Fall 2022 Intern Wrap Up
Our Fall 2022 interns were truly one of a kind and we already miss them dearly. We asked them to tell us one thing they learned with us this semester. Jacob will be interning with us again next semester, but here’s what Cole, Anna, and Juils had to say as their internship came to an end!
“I learned that there are really so many moving parts when it comes to artist management, like touring, booking shows, music videos, releasing music, merch, etc. Managing artists as a whole has a lot of organization that has to come with it! Something more out of my comfort zone that I specifically enjoyed was learning how to edit videos and photos for social media.”
“At Olivia, I’ve learned what it looks like when a company has a healthy culture that values the people rather than solely valuing the work that they produce. Erin, Merk, Grace, and Maddy have all reflected this quality and have shown that they value each other and us interns as more than just a team member!”
“This semester I learned how much of a difference it makes when you truly care about the artists you manage. Here at Olivia, the team has a great relationship with every single one of our artists and it’s so clear to see how much of an impact that has on the artist’s success.”

What Excellence Means to Olivia Management
by Juils Cervizzi
“We are committed to excellence, honesty, integrity, and genuine connection.”
Here at Olivia Management, we strive to provide excellence, and nothing less, for our artists. How do we do this? Keep reading and find out!
Erin Anderson
Manager, Founder, and CEO
“With hundreds of tour dates, links, and venue names, we've learned how easy it is to make mistakes. So, we made it a rule that no emails or posts go out to fans without multiple people double checking them. Also, we try to keep the office snack box full of good snacks so we stay happy and fueled to provide excellent work!”
Mackenzie Fey
Manager, Touring & Marketing Coordinator
“When stepping into any setting where I’m representing our artists, the company, and myself, I strive to have excellence visible in words I say, emails I send, social posts I schedule, shows I attend, and beyond. This can include having someone double check a tour poster for accuracy, carving out intentional time for new marketing ideas for our artists, connecting with people who are kind through and through, thinking before speaking, etc.”
Grace Carey-Hill
Touring & Marketing Assistant
“We want to go above and beyond when supporting our artists' dreams and businesses. With applications like Artist Growth and Asana, we try to make sure that we provide as much information and attention to every area in the artists' lives. Our ideal situation is to have all of our artist’s questions and worries answered before they can even pose the question.”
Maddy Hicks
Marketing & Logistics Assistant
“I think a good example of excellence is when our artists ask us to do something and we can tell them we already did it! We stay on top of things to make sure they feel taken care of.”
New Release From ZG Smith!
By Anna Sampson
ZG Smith is the Los Angeles-born, Nashville-based son of an English professor mother and a shipwreck diver and underwater archaelogist father. For over ten years, he fronted the band Smooth Hound Smith who headlined tours in the US, Europe, and the UK and supported artists like The Chicks, Collective Soul, Trombone Shorty, Jamestown Revival, and many more. Following the release of their third album in 2019 and a month-long European tour in February 2020, the band’s eventual hiatus caused Smith to refocus towards other artistic pursuits.
“I started seeking out music again like I did when I was younger. I realized that I had been so focused on Smooth Hound Smith and had been trying to push the band forward, that I stopped listening to music just for enjoyment. Because of the pandemic, I had time, so I dug a massive hole in my backyard, leveled it off, and laid a patio of over 1,200 bricks, all by hand. It took me about a month. I would just be out there all day in the sun listening to North African desert blues, EDM, ‘90s hip hop, or bizarre, outsider folk music. A lot of that stuff really informed the music I ended up creating months later.”
ZG Smith has released his first solo single, “Let Me Back In,” just last month! Listen to it below!

Jill Andrews Fall Tour!
By Anna Sampson
From her days fronting lauded Americana group, the Everbodyfields, to her successful solo career as a writer and performer, Jill Andrews’ music has taken her far from her East Tennessee home. She has collaborated and shared the stage with countless celebrated artists including the Avett Brothers, Langhorne Slim, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, and the Secret Sisters, and her music has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, Nashville, Wynonna Earp and This Is Us.
Featuring emotional melodies, intimate storytelling, and vocals that soar even at a whisper, Andrews’ third studio album, Thirties, is a deviation, it resists contemplating the big, loud questions of the world, and rather, invites listeners to look inward, keeping us closer to home than ever before. Along with a full-colour, hard-cover companion book, Thirties released in early 2020. During quarantine, Andrews’ combed through her songwriting catalog and dug up treasures she had written as far back as 2013.
She released both the Vultures and Ellen EPs in 2021, celebrating her darker side and folk song writing roots respectively.
Jill has most recently released an EP of songs, recorded in Nashville’s Parthenon in June of 2022. Titled “Jill Andrews (The Parthenon Sessions)”, listen above!
For the past few weeks, Jill Andrews has been on the road with Clem Snide on their fall 2022 US tour! Sadly this is one of the last two shows that they have left on this leg of the tour, if you find yourself in Lexington, Kentucky tonight, October 19, they’re heading to the Burl, get your tickets here!
The Jill Andrews and Clem Snide tour is wrapping up at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley tomorrow, October 20! Make sure you don’t miss it, get your tickets here!
Excitingly, Jill Andrews is hitting the road once again in the UK in just two short weeks! Get your tickets here as well!

Nashville Local Musts
by Jacob Welsch
As the Fall Season begins to make an appearance, we all know that the days begin to get shorter, the weather begins to get colder, and the urgency to do all things Fall related grows significantly. Here at Olivia Management, we believe that in the busyness of the season, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to take some time and enjoy the finer things in life, which is why we have compiled exactly all the things you must do in Nashville before the year is over.
12th South Farmers Market
To start, we believe that one of the most important things, especially when living in a place like Nashville, Tennessee, is to truly feel like a local. Every Tuesday from 4-7pm, locals get the chance to not only shop and eat from some of the best local vendors Nashville has to offer, but you also get the chance to dodge the craziness and traffic of 12th South on the weekends. Don’t miss this fun for all opportunity though, this farmers market will only be active the rest of October before it gets too cold!
Enjoy the local venues and artistS
What better activity is there to do in Music City than listening to music? As a local, it’s important not only to explore local venues, but it’s also important to explore the artists that go along with these venues. Check out some of our favorite shows coming up in Nashville this season!
Jill Andrews and Clem Snide - 3rd & Linsley - October 20th @ 8pm - Get your tickets here!
Street Corner Symphony - Franklin Theatre - December 20th @ 8pm - Get your tickets here!
Escape the city for a movie
Do you ever sit at home on a Friday night wondering what to do but at the same time wishing it was easier to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city? Look no further. Catch a movie at Stardust Drive-In one weekend and cuddle up with the people you love. You may or may not see us at Don’t Worry Darling or their Fall classics this season…
percy warner park
As the seasons are changing, there is not better time to not only get in touch with Mother Nature, but there is truly no better time to keep active. One of Nashville’s biggest hidden gems, Percy Warner Park, is the perfect place for this. For an afternoon picnic, quick jog, or rigorous six mile hike, the nature and colors will help you have the perfect escape from the city.
Cheekwood Estate & Garden
At last, a Nashville Fall would not be complete without a trip to Belle Meade to Cheekwood Estate for the Fall Festival and LIGHTS garden. Cheekwood is Nashville’s one stop shop for all the festivities that entail this holiday season. Carve a pumpkin. See some Christmas lights. Drink some hot chocolate. Go on a date. The world is your oyster at Cheekwood Estate.
Fall Flicks
by Cole Bishop
Fall is now upon us bringing aesthetically pleasing colors and cool weather to us all. One of the best parts about the fall season is when it occasionally gets a little too cold and we can all sit inside missing out on nature’s beauty as we binge watch our favorite movies without an ounce of guilt. Everyone has at least one movie that really gets them in the fall spirit so I decided to ask the team at OM which movie they felt really got them in the mood for cool weather and pumpkins.
Erin
First up is our head honcho Erin. When I asked Erin the movie she felt represented the fall season she immediately answered with the 90’s classic You’ve Got Mail. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in this complex love story that brings Erin in the fall spirit with, “the soundtrack, Meg Ryan’s fashion choices, and New York in the fall.” Erin concluded by saying: “I love everything about it.”
Grace
Grace then added her pick saying that the 2019 version of Little Women got her in the fall spirit. Grace picked this fantastic movie because of the, “Massachusetts fall, fashion, optimal soundtrack” and finished by saying, “something about the love stories are oh so cozy to me.”
Anna
Next up is Anna. Anna added another 90’s movie to the fall roster with Hocus Pocus. This Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker film is a classic for the spooky season of fall.
Juils
Juils veered into TV with her pick being Gilmore Girls. This show set the tone for the early to mid 2000’s and is a great pick to binge in the fall months.
Cole
Without hesitation, my go-to fall movie will always be Dan In Real Life. I grew up watching and rewatching this movie with my family and it will always be my comfort movie for the fall season. This feel-good Steve Carrell movie is well-worth the watch.
At Olivia Management, we love to reflect on the things that make us happiest. This fall movie reflection was a great way for us all to take a second and dive into a little bit of nostalgia in thinking of movies that comfort us the most. We hope that you too get the chance to reflect and maybe curl up on the couch and enjoy a great piece of nostalgia of your own!
Nashville Eats & OM Beats
by Jacob Welsch
Here at Olivia Management, there are three things we love more than anything. Good music, Good people, and most importantly- Good food. We often find ourselves exploring Nashville’s finest eateries but wish there was some way we knew exactly what to listen to while satisfying our cravings.
After further investigation and finding what paired best with Nashville’s most popular spots; we have made it easy for you to take the day for yourself, plug in your headphones, and munch munch crunch crunch! Follow along as we show you what songs by our artists will pair best with the top restaurants in Music City.
Milk & Honey - “Morning is Made” by Hush Kids
To start us off, Picture this: It’s Tuesday Morning. You decide instead of working from home today, you’re going out of your comfort shell and getting work done at Milk & Honey. What are you ordering? Nova Lox Bagel. What are you listening too? Morning is Made by Hush Kids. The perfect start to the day.
615 Deli - “Trying” by The Sewing Club
As the afternoon comes and you’re ready for lunch, not only do you need the perfect sandwich or burger combo, but you also need that perfect song to keep you going and energized. The Sewing Club is offering you just this. “Trying” is the perfect afternoon pump up paired with The Legend Sandwich.
Pastaria Italian Dining - “Landslide” by Alex Blue
Entertain us one again if you will. It’s a rainy Friday evening and after the long week you just had, you want nothing more than to order takeout and sit on the couch with a glass of wine and some Italian food. We believe that a bowl of Chitarra al Pomodoro pairs perfectly with your favorite white wine and Alex Blue’s cover of Landslide.
Cafe Intermezzo - “Hold onto My Hand” by Peter Groenwald
For dessert, Cafe Intermezzo is bringing the cake and Peter Groenwald is bringing the tunes. Red Velvet Torte and “Hold onto My Hand.” That’s it.
Dino’s Dive Bar and Grill - “One in the Morning” by Smooth Hound Smith
Lastly, always a fan favorite- Dino’s. Dino’s is a Nashville classic and we believe that Smooth Hound Smith is your best bet when it comes to your late night feasting with the besties at one in the morning.
At Olivia Management, we hope that you are able to not only enjoy some quality food, but some of our favorite songs to go with these bites and the people you love. We also believe it is important to explore locally owned restaurants and upcoming artist to not only achieve full stomachs, but also full ears, and full hearts.
The Sewing Club Releases New Single, "I Like to Break Things"
By Anna Sampson
The Sewing Club is a four piece bedroom rock band based in Nashville, TN! They have just released their new single, “I Like to Break Things.”
The Sewing Club, four piece band made up of Hannah McElroy (lead singer/writer), Stephen Meaux (Electric Guitar), Will Harris, (Bass Guitar), and Zach McCoy (Drums), create a sound that is reminiscent of sparkly 90’s rock and grunge with hints of punk and Nashville indie influences. They began as a band in the basements of their college homes in Nashville, Tennessee. The Sewing Club now call Nashville home, and continue to spread their sound through all of the southern regions and beyond!
Following their September 9 release of “I Like to Break Things,” The Sewing Club released their music video for the song on September 16! The dreamy lights and colors of this video create a beautiful aura to what seems like would be a dark damp basement, in any other setting! Confirming the speculation of this band liking to break things… in some scenes the video depicts some of the band members smashing various objects.
Recording in Stephen’s garage, bedroom, or in the hills of Hartsville, TN at Polychrome Ranch, they have stayed true to their DIY Rock roots. The Sewing. Club has also released singles “Trying,” “Clarity,” and “My Dad Wants You Dead” with Jared Corder of *Repeat Repeat. The band continues to write and record at The Ranch, working hard on their debut EP that is set to release soon.
Check out more of their music below!
Come see The Sewing Club play “I Like To Break Things” and more at the East Room on Thursday, September 29!!

OM Summer Highlights
by Cole Bishop
Soon, t-shirts will be turning into sweaters as the fall season will be upon us. This transitional period is always exciting as pumpkins start hitting porches and we all start wearing our favorite pair of pants we haven’t worn since the temperature hit 90 degrees and decided to hang out there for a while. We at Olivia Management felt that this was a perfect time to reflect on some of the great things that have happened in our lives over this past summer season. Here are some of the highlights that the team shared with me!
Erin Anderson
Erin started with a great summer story about some time she spent at National Parks, saying:
“I went to Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks and it was spectacular. It was a great reminder that we are small and our problems are small and the world is big and beautiful.”
Mackenzie Fey
Mackenzie started her great summer experience by saying: “mine was too easy to choose.”
“In June, I made my way over to Wilmington, NC with my roommate Annabelle to visit our good friends Steph and Jacob. We beached a lot and just basked in the glory of finally being reunited after so long. It’s my favorite thing to think about lately.”
Anna Layne Sampson
Anna Layne shared a great trip she took to Portland saying:
“I went to Portland, Maine with my mom and sister to see Phoebe Bridgers play! We hung out in the city, went shopping around town for a couple days, and went swimming on the lake!”
Jacob Welsch
Jacob shared a fun trip he took to Chicago saying:
“I visited Chicago for the first time and saw the bean with some good friends! It easily turned into one of my favorite trips I have ever taken.”
Cole Bishop
My favorite part of the summer was going home and staying at my family’s lakehouse for a few weeks! I grew up going to this lake and it’s always the highlight of my summers to get to go!
Maddy Hicks
Maddy talked about going to a music festival in Ohio:
“Right at the end of August, I went to Wonderbus Music Festival in Ohio! One of our friends is from Columbus, so we stayed with her family which was a blast. The highlight was seeing Lorde - I will never recover.”
We love getting to share a little about ourselves and our lives outside of the office! Here at Olivia Management we love to celebrate the joys in life. They’re all important! Thanks for sticking with us and we hope you all feel encouraged to reflect on the great experiences you had this summer.
Fall Essentials at Olivia Management
by Jacob Welsch
The transition from Summer to Fall has always been a favorite of mine. As the days slowly get shorter, and the need for a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte becomes more evident, September is the best time to snuggle up on the couch with your favorite people, and most importantly- your favorite fall soundtrack. Here at Olivia Management, we love just that. Because of this, we have taken it upon ourselves to set you up for success when it comes to this new season. So cuddle up, because we asked our team for their go-to Autumn record that will ensure you the coziest season full of warmth, spice, love, and festivities.
Erin - “Life in Slow Motion” by David Gray
To start us off, the woman behind it all has chosen an early 2000’s classic, “Life in Slow Motion” by David Gray. Paired alongside her favorite recipe from Alison Roman, nothing quite gets better than this record and a bowl of Spiced Chickpea Stew!
Merk - “For Emma, Forever Ago” by Bon Iver
Up next, Merk has chosen Bon Iver’s first album, and a touchstone of the indie folk genre, “For Emma, Forever Ago.”
Fun fact: This album was recorded in a cabin in the woods while founder Justin Vernon was taking some time away for self reflection. If that doesn’t scream Fall, I don’t know what does.
Grace - “Tapestry” by Carol King
Grace has chosen not only an album we all should know and love, but also a masterpiece.
“Tapestry” by Carol King was long before its time and has impacted the music industry more than we will ever know, especially for women. This album not only topped the U.S. album chart for fifteen weeks in 1971, but it also remained on the charts for six years after its initial release. A fall MUST!
Maddy - “Red” by Taylor Swift
Moving on to the Swiftie of the office, Taylor Swift’s “Red “ is a staple for more than just Maddy. For the sad girl autumn, or for the post break-up comeback, this album has everything you need to get you through the Fall.
Anna Layne - “This Empty Northern Hemisphere” by Gregory Alan Isakov
Although “Red” comes in first for Anna Layne as well, “This Empty Northern Hemisphere” is a close second place. This heartfelt, honest, and authentic album will leave anyone in the cozy spirit and ready to curl up in a ball on the couch.
Jacob - “Surrender” by Maggie Rogers
I am a strong believer that anything by Maggie Rogers is a year round listen. “Surrender” specifically dives deeper into emotion, sexuality, and freedom, delivering anything your heart could desire in this season of change which is why it is so important to immerse yourself in this album.
Juils - “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane
For Juils, “Somewhere Only We Know” is the single song that captures every aspect of Fall in her books. The right amount of love, hope, yearning, and comfort.
You’ve made it! You are officially ready for Fall and all things cozy.
At Olivia Management, we pride ourselves on knowing good music when we hear it. We hope that this not only helps you smoothly transition from Summer to Fall, but our hope is that you also take time for yourself to cuddle up, drink a pumpkin spice latte, and know exactly the music to help you spice up your Fall season.
Looking Back on Olivia Management's Americanafest Showcase 2021
We’re getting so excited for our upcoming Americanafest showcase, Live from Historic Eastland on September 13, 2022! Let’s do some reminiscing on last year’s showcase.
We held the event at Historic Eastland in East Nashville, transforming the sanctuary into an intimate lamplit stage for our performers. The showcase was sponsored by Tone Tree Music, and our host was Mr. Steve, who kept the show moving along with some excellent Americanafest-themed jokes. Madeleine Kelson was the first performer; since then, she signed with Olivia Records and released an amazing record called While I Was Away. Our second act was the one and only Peter Groenwald, who shared some upcoming music on piano and guitar.
Ruthie Collins graced the stage next, performing some of the songs from her album Cold Comfort. Derek Webb played a few powerful songs, and then Jill Andrews played music from her EP Ellen, which was released shortly after that.
Smooth Hound Smith gave a lovely performance of some of their best songs, including “Truck Stop Shower.” We closed out the night with the music of Hush Kids, made up of Peter Groenwald and Jill Andrews. Listen to part of that performance in the clip below!
This year’s showcase is going to be an absolute blast. RSVP here and come join us for free! Americanafest badge not needed.
Intern Wrap Up: Hannah Loomis
By Hannah Loomis
I first met Mackenzie and Grace at Belmont’s Curb College Internship Fair in the fall of 2021. From our first conversation, I just knew that I had to apply for an internship at Olivia Management. They were so much fun to chat with, even over Zoom, and I could tell that they really enjoyed the work they were doing. I vividly remember getting the email notification from Mackenzie that I was being offered the internship. I was at Belmont, walking to class with a friend. I thoroughly embarrassed myself by squealing loudly and jumping up and down.
From my first staff meeting and work day with Olivia Management, I knew that I was going to love my time interning here. At OM, we start each staff meeting by affirming another team member and then ourselves. It’s so refreshing, and made me feel valued and seen as a member of the team from day one. Not to mention, the energy in the office is amazing. We work hard, but also have a great time cracking jokes, getting to know each other, and listening to Harry’s House. To this day, I am so inspired each time I come into work. It is a blessing to be surrounded by powerful, hardworking women who are forces to be reckoned with in our industry. I could not have asked for a better team to look up to.
I have grown so much throughout the two semesters I’ve interned at Olivia Management. My knowledge of the music industry has increased tenfold, and my skillset has expanded tremendously. Getting to learn from Erin and the rest of the Olivia Management team has been an honor and a privilege. I’ve experienced so many wonderful things during my time here as well. I attended two release parties for our lovely artists, got to celebrate OM’s 10th anniversary, and spent some time in the studio observing. I’ve had several one on one meetings with Erin, who so graciously prioritizes making herself accessible to us interns. I have wanted to pursue artist management as a career since my sophomore year of college, and I’m now more confident than ever about that decision. It is the truly the most magical feeling.
I begin my senior year in about two weeks, and that is both terrifying and exciting. However, I’m entering this year feeling absolutely elated to learn more about what the music industry has to offer. I’m definitely sad to leave Olivia Management, but I will carry the things I’ve learned with me for the rest of my career. I’m so thankful for Erin, Mackenzie, Grace, and Maddy and all that they’ve helped me achieve here. I am thrilled to see what the future holds!
Intern Wrap Up: Abby Coleman
By: Abby Coleman
My summer days are usually filled with friends, family, and lots of sunshine. This summer I decided to take on an internship. Starting at a new place can always be intimidating, and spending the summer working doesn’t initially seem to have a good ring to it, but then I found Olivia Management.
I first came across the opportunity at Belmont’s internship fair, and I walked away knowing this was a place I wanted to be a part of. From day one they have all made sure to be uplifting, encouraging, and just caring humans. I was so eager to dive into the company and learn from them, and they were just as eager to help me. I knew I was in the right place when I saw Mr. Styles hanging out above the “Suite 107” sign.
Erin, Merk, Grace, and Maddy are all incredible people who have created an incredible space for everyone that they work with. They are so dedicated to being the best they can be for their artists and each other, while also prioritizing fun and connection. The environment they have created is so inspiring and really pushed me to grow and learn within the industry.
The summer has come to an end way too quickly. I am going to miss all of the jam sessions and laughs that we shared in the office, and I will especially miss being surrounded by wonderful women with great music taste. I am so thankful for everyone here, and cannot wait to see all the amazing things this company and its artists continue to do.
To the OM family, THANK YOU!
I hope to see you all again really soon!
Intern Wrap Up: Savannah Hall
By: Savannah Hall
The transition into the music industry looks like a kaleidoscope of different opportunities. Belmont University is a prestigious school that allows students to take advantage of wonderful internships and gain a better understanding of their future careers. The Belmont Career and Internship Fair connected me personally with the wonderful Olivia Management. I was captivated by the artwork of their artists like Hush Kids, and their charismatic personalities. I knew the moment I met them I wanted to work with them.
From the interview process to the first day in office, I was greeted by people who were dedicated to their work. Each worker carried their work and successfully accomplished each goal set in place. The summer seemed to fly by as Asana tasks were completed, Slack kept me laughing, and Publix subs were essential to a long day. It was always a good hang in this office. If you are looking to learn and expand your knowledge of the music industry this internship is for you. It felt easy to work hard in this female led office with a healthy dose of Harry Styles posters and fantastic music.
I learned some of the ropes to become an artist manager and I feel confident about where I am going. I am definitely going to miss casual walks to get a Cafe Con Leche with Grace, enjoying Merk’s music choices, and discussing Taylor Swift theories with Maddy. I look up to Erin and the company she has grown by hustling everyday. Olivia Management has incredible artists that are sure to leave an imprint on the industry. I am so thrilled to have spent my time here and can’t wait to see where bands like The Sewing Club and Hush Kids go. Thank you Olivia Management for the first memorable, learnable, and fun internship. Out for the day and see you next time friends!
Intern Wrap Up: Luke McMahon
By Luke McMahon
I have a little bit of restless leg syndrome when it comes to filling my time during summer vacation. That being the case, I have been seeking out programs/internships to take part in during the summer since early high school. So, with a good amount of internships and work experience under my belt as I enter my junior year of college, I can confidently say that no company or program has left me with a stronger bullet point on my resume than Olivia Management.
Music has always been propelled and nurtured by collaboration. It is incredible to see that collaborative effort exists not only on the creative side but in a business environment at Olivia. In some previous jobs, I have felt entirely expendable. At Olivia, I am consistently involved in every day and big-picture projects, learning programs, and completing tasks that will undoubtedly be helpful in my future professional endeavors.
Olivia feels like a team in every sense of the word and is the most welcoming company. Erin, Merk, Grace, and Maddy have curated a space where I want to get work done, where I want to help out my team in any way I can.
Whether hanging up tour posters, sending emails to hundreds of fans, or writing blogs like this, Olivia management knows how to keep you busy.
Each member of the OM team is uniquely equipped to handle regular office discussions about Harry Styles, Swiftie culture, and the latest binge-worthy shows. If you are looking to be inspired by a group of dedicated, badass women in music, I would not miss the chance to work here.
Not goodbye, just see you later!
