Looking Back on Jill Andrews' "Modern Age" Music Videos

by Ty Ellenbogen

Jill Andrews released her album “Modern Age” in August of this year. Since then, she’s been on tour with her band, bringing her songs to life in concert and connecting with fans along the way. Following a UK run of performances and Jill’s recent show back in Nashville, the “Modern Age” tour takes a brief pause before starting up again in 2024.

Luckily, there is more than one way for us to enjoy Jill’s music. In addition to hearing her songs brought to life on stage, we can also see them brought to life through visuals. So, as we anxiously await the return of the “Modern Age” tour, let’s take a look at her three incredible music videos that have been released this past year.

Their music echoed through the Nashville night, a fitting conclusion to a week packed with extraordinary talent and fellowship.

While the curtain may have fallen on this year's AmericanaFest, we’ll take the memories with us. We're grateful for the opportunity to showcase our artists, engage in insightful discussions, and celebrate the power of music with the vibrant Americana community.

What We're Listening to in The Office

by Maddie Humble

If you ever stop by the office, you can almost always find us playing something in the office. From Selena Gomez to our own artists, you can find us playing a plethora of music genres that we enjoy.

Here are the albums we’ve been listening to this month:

Selena Gomez’s “Revival” album has been on full blast in the office this month. Clearly, we’re team Sel. Some of our favorite songs from this album include Kill Em With Kindness and Same Old Love.

The next album that we’ve been listening to is one of our very own artist’s, Sam Johnston. His album “Cannonball” has been a favorite of ours. One of our favorite songs from this album is Runaway Train.

We have also been listening to quite a few 70’s artists. Abba has probably been the most popular band we have listened to thus far from that era. We personally suggest the songs Angeleyes and Chiquitita on this album.

The 1975’s newest album has also been on repeat in the office. Songs like Oh Caroline and Happiness keep the good vibes going throughout our workday.

We would be lying if we didn’t admit that Jill Andrew’s “Thirties” album isn’t playing nonstop in the office. We LOVE this album. Our personal favorites from this album are Call It Even and River Swimming.

Finally, the last album we’ve been listening to nonstop is John Mayer’s “Battle Studies” album. Grace especially has loved this considering she is a major John Mayer fan. Our favorites from this album are Edge of Desire and Assassin.

We hope this gave you all a little more insight into what we’ve been listening to! Hopefully, you can add some of these to your own playlists.

New Year, New OM Merch

by Lauren Campbell

A new year calls for a new style, and OM artists' merch has got you covered—and what better way to show off the new you than by representing the new sounds and lyrics you love?

Like their music, each OM artist’s merch reflects their style. You can choose from pop artist Alex Blue’s cozy, minimalistic sweats to Ruthie Collins’s warm-toned graphic tees to perfectly depict your new styles and musical interests.

For fans of Jill Andrews's dreamy, angelic vocals with a down-to-earth Americana feel, the best-selling little red's revenge navy t-shirt may be your go-to top for a Saturday.

The musical stylings of bedroom pop artist Alex Blue are "So Good" and will make you want to drink coffee in bed on a lazy Saturday. To complete the experience, check out Alex Blue’s  'If You Are Changing, Congratulations' navy crewneck for the perfect cozy look. If you are up for some errands around noon, try on the Alex Blue Corduroy Hat (which is now on sale) and slip your essentials in the Alex Blue Font Eco Tote Bag.

Singer-songwriter Ruthie Collins's lyrics are pure Americana with west coast imagery. She sings about Dallas, Joshua Tree and Tennessee—and these places muted, warm colors are represented in the earthiness of the Ruthie Navy Logo Tee. Elevate your outfit with the ultra-versatile 'Wish You Were Here' Bandana for a subtly stylish western look.

Soft, warm and bright: these sensory images may appear in your mind as you listen to breezy stylings of Hush Kids—or when viewing their graphic designs, like this Hush Kids Oasis T-Shirt.

For more information about which merchandise is best for you, check out each artist’s name link for their websites or check them out on Spotify, Apple Music, or your preferred streaming platform.

Jill Andrews Fall Tour!

By Anna Sampson

From her days fronting lauded Americana group, the Everbodyfields, to her successful solo career as a writer and performer, Jill Andrews’ music has taken her far from her East Tennessee home. She has collaborated and shared the stage with countless celebrated artists including the Avett Brothers, Langhorne Slim, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, and the Secret Sisters, and her music has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, Nashville, Wynonna Earp and This Is Us.

Featuring emotional melodies, intimate storytelling, and vocals that soar even at a whisper, Andrews’ third studio album, Thirties, is a deviation, it resists contemplating the big, loud questions of the world, and rather, invites listeners to look inward, keeping us closer to home than ever before. Along with a full-colour, hard-cover companion book, Thirties released in early 2020. During quarantine, Andrews’ combed through her songwriting catalog and dug up treasures she had written as far back as 2013.

She released both the Vultures and Ellen EPs in 2021, celebrating her darker side and folk song writing roots respectively.

Jill has most recently released an EP of songs, recorded in Nashville’s Parthenon in June of 2022. Titled “Jill Andrews (The Parthenon Sessions)”, listen above!

For the past few weeks, Jill Andrews has been on the road with Clem Snide on their fall 2022 US tour! Sadly this is one of the last two shows that they have left on this leg of the tour, if you find yourself in Lexington, Kentucky tonight, October 19, they’re heading to the Burl, get your tickets here!

The Jill Andrews and Clem Snide tour is wrapping up at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley tomorrow, October 20! Make sure you don’t miss it, get your tickets here!

Excitingly, Jill Andrews is hitting the road once again in the UK in just two short weeks! Get your tickets here as well!

Nashville Local Musts

by Jacob Welsch

As the Fall Season begins to make an appearance, we all know that the days begin to get shorter, the weather begins to get colder, and the urgency to do all things Fall related grows significantly. Here at Olivia Management, we believe that in the busyness of the season, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to take some time and enjoy the finer things in life, which is why we have compiled exactly all the things you must do in Nashville before the year is over.

12th South Farmers Market

To start, we believe that one of the most important things, especially when living in a place like Nashville, Tennessee, is to truly feel like a local. Every Tuesday from 4-7pm, locals get the chance to not only shop and eat from some of the best local vendors Nashville has to offer, but you also get the chance to dodge the craziness and traffic of 12th South on the weekends. Don’t miss this fun for all opportunity though, this farmers market will only be active the rest of October before it gets too cold!

Enjoy the local venues and artistS

What better activity is there to do in Music City than listening to music? As a local, it’s important not only to explore local venues, but it’s also important to explore the artists that go along with these venues. Check out some of our favorite shows coming up in Nashville this season!

Jill Andrews and Clem Snide - 3rd & Linsley - October 20th @ 8pm - Get your tickets here!

Street Corner Symphony - Franklin Theatre - December 20th @ 8pm - Get your tickets here!

Escape the city for a movie

Do you ever sit at home on a Friday night wondering what to do but at the same time wishing it was easier to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city? Look no further. Catch a movie at Stardust Drive-In one weekend and cuddle up with the people you love. You may or may not see us at Don’t Worry Darling or their Fall classics this season…

percy warner park

As the seasons are changing, there is not better time to not only get in touch with Mother Nature, but there is truly no better time to keep active. One of Nashville’s biggest hidden gems, Percy Warner Park, is the perfect place for this. For an afternoon picnic, quick jog, or rigorous six mile hike, the nature and colors will help you have the perfect escape from the city.

Cheekwood Estate & Garden

At last, a Nashville Fall would not be complete without a trip to Belle Meade to Cheekwood Estate for the Fall Festival and LIGHTS garden. Cheekwood is Nashville’s one stop shop for all the festivities that entail this holiday season. Carve a pumpkin. See some Christmas lights. Drink some hot chocolate. Go on a date. The world is your oyster at Cheekwood Estate.

Jill Andrews "The Parthenon Sessions" Review

By Luke McMahon

For over one hundred years, the Parthenon has stood proudly in Centennial Park as one of Nashville's most popular attractions. One hundred years means this building has witnessed millions of little moments. It has been a place for nervous first dates or the silent walk of a couple that has been together for 50 years, a place for locals and tourists alike to come and gaze at the impossibly green grass and walk through the extraordinary building. From all kinds of gatherings, breakups, and proposals, the Parthenon has arguably seen it all. But I can only imagine how this old building must have felt when it was swelled by the musical stylings of Olivia Management's very own Jill Andrews in her recently debuted "Parthenon sessions."

Presented by the Centennial Park Conservancy and containing 5 of Jill's original tunes, the Parthenon sessions offered the perfect environment for Andrews' unforgettable artistry, "tailored to the unique 5-second reverb of the building's 42-foot tall ceilings." If there is a "right way" to enjoy Jill Andrews' music, this is that way. Accompanied and surrounded by a variety of string players throughout each song makes the experience not only sonically beautiful but visually stunning. Seeing the exposed instruments that culminate to produce such a unique raw sound, paired with Andrews’ soulful voice and thoughtful lyrics makes for a memorable performance.

One performance, in particular, stood out to me as it captured so perfectly the magic that makes Jill, well, Jill. Performing her song "Sorry Now," from her 2020 Album, Thirties, accompanied by a quartet of string instruments, Andrews drifted through the sound system on my TV, allowing it to feel as though my living room ceiling was 42 feet high. It is a special thing to witness a musician in such a stripped environment, it is even more special to see them absolutely crush it. Andrews doesn’t need much to shine.

The Parthenon sessions are a masterful way to showcase artists and the most authentic parts of their talent. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You can stream Jill's Session via YouTube or wherever you like to get your tunes!

Be sure to see Jill Andrews on tour this fall! Grab your tickets here!

7 Patreons We Support + 7 Tips for Patreon Success

by Maggie Adams

Launching Patreons is a new-found hobby of mine thanks to the pandemic. During a time when all of us in the music industry are experiencing financial loss, how do we make up some of that income? For us it’s been partially through tapping into an artist’s fanbase, and creating a new monthly revenue stream. I’ve enjoyed the new challenge of brainstorming, building, launching, and largely managing a few Patreon accounts over the past six months. I’ve also been able to talk to a Patreon artist liaison to get tips on best practices for Patreon setup and get critiques for how to improve our own artists’ accounts.

In this post, I’ll go through 7 Patreon accounts that Erin or I support, and point out something we like about each so that you can steal some of these smart ideas for a Patreon of your own.

  1. Alex Wong

Alex Wong

Tip #1: Give the people what they want.

If you haven’t heard of Alex Wong before, we urge you to check out his beautiful music. Alex is a consummate creator, and Patrons will get the benefit of all of the amazing videos, vlogs, and series he is running. One tip you can jot down from Alex’s Patreon is that he has a $100 tier for super fans where after 1 year of patronage, you get a private concert. It’s a great idea to have a higher level of patronage like this even if you want to limit this tier to a few people, so that it can remain manageable for you. There is likely someone out there who wants to give you the big bucks. Let them!

2. Ali Sperry

Screen Shot 2020-11-06 at 10.57.06 AM.png

Tip #2: Offer more than music.

Ali is a seasoned songwriter AND yoga instructor, so she created a tier designed for her Patrons to learn something from her. Patrons can take advantage of her knowledge and request lessons on either topic. If you’re like Ali, and you have skills you know people would like to learn from then offer that up! While talking about music 100% of the time may make sense, Patreon is a place to give fans more of a window into your day-to-day life. Whether it’s yoga, cooking, or poetry, you can take what you’re already doing on a daily basis and turn it into a benefit for your Patrons.

3. Alright Alright

Screen Shot 2020-11-06 at 11.04.57 AM.png

Tip #3: Branding, baby!

We love Alright Alright for their creativity and authenticity. When creating a Patreon, it’s important to remember to build the tiers the way that best represents you. One benefit the band is offering is a monthly happy hour Zoom where they share a cocktail, the recipe for it, and share some music. The perfect pairing. Not only are their benefits on-brand, but the aesthetics of their Patreon has a cohesive look with branded tier images and names to make Patrons feel like they’re part of the musical process.

4. Andrew Duhon

Screen Shot 2020-11-06 at 11.17.36 AM.png

#4. Consider the effort tiers will require. Make it manageable.

There are many ways to set up a Patreon, and to be honest, if you’re an artist that’s doing most everything yourself, it can be overwhelming to manage a bunch of tiers and figure out how to value different benefits. We like that Andrew Duhon has opted for a simpler approach that’s just as effective. He has one tier only at just $5, but has acquired a whopping 192 patrons since his quarantine launch. He posts at least twice a week with consistent and fresh content, offering new covers, new songs, and free access to livestreams. On his about page he also describes his Patreon as a “testing lab,” inviting Patrons to give feedback about what they want out of their Patronage. We love this manageable one-tier method!

5. Derek Webb

Screen Shot 2020-11-06 at 11.31.23 AM.png

Tip #5: Content windowing on socials is essential to grow.

Where do we start with Derek Webb? Having an entrepreneurial background and a mind for marketing, Derek hits all the right notes on his Patreon. He delivers multiple weekly series with branded images for each, a consistent format for each, posted on a consistent day and time. He teases everything on socials, which is an essential key to success with Patreon. How will your fans know what they’re missing unless you tell them? One cool thing in particular that Derek does each week is create a public post on his Patreon that he references in social posts as his “blog.” Fans go to this blog, end up on Patreon, realize how cool it is, and then stay and pay for a tier because of the free thing he got them to view by posting to his socials. Funneling at its finest.

6. Jill Andrews

Screen Shot 2020-11-06 at 11.48.39 AM.png

Tip #6: Share the raw recordings and dusty demos.

If your voice often gets compared to that of an angel, it’s safe to say that even your most basic demos and work tapes will be considered magical to your fans. This is the case for Jill Andrews. She could literally sing the phone book, and I would listen to the whole thing. Of course I’m biased, but the the point is, don’t be afraid to share things that you may never release to the public. Patreon is a place for your true fans, and these fans likely don’t write songs for a living. Give them a glimpse into the process by sharing work tapes, demos, and the stories behind them. In doing so, you will also have the chance to give those old recordings a home where they’ll be appreciated. Let go of perfection, people! It’s tough, but it’ll pay off…literally.

7. Ruthie Collins

Screen Shot 2020-11-06 at 12.10.48 PM.png

Tip #7: Give fans one-on-one, personal access.

Although not everyone may have the time for this, it behooves you to have weekly benefits for your Patrons. Patreon states clearly that your Patrons are more likely to stick around if you post at least twice per month. Ruthie goes above and beyond by posting weekly affirmation videos, which bring comfort and peace for the week ahead. Another thing we’d highly recommend doing if you’re comfortable and able is to set up a way to chat 1 on 1 with your Patrons. Ruthie offers weekly messaging back and forth with her highest tier of Patrons via the Marco Polo app. There are many different apps or services you could use for something like this, but the important aspect is the personal access you’re giving to fans. Your super fans will pay top dollar to feel like they have a close relationship with you. After a while, those fans may even end up feeling like family!
