What We're Listening to in The Office

by Maddie Humble

If you ever stop by the office, you can almost always find us playing something in the office. From Selena Gomez to our own artists, you can find us playing a plethora of music genres that we enjoy.

Here are the albums we’ve been listening to this month:

Selena Gomez’s “Revival” album has been on full blast in the office this month. Clearly, we’re team Sel. Some of our favorite songs from this album include Kill Em With Kindness and Same Old Love.

The next album that we’ve been listening to is one of our very own artist’s, Sam Johnston. His album “Cannonball” has been a favorite of ours. One of our favorite songs from this album is Runaway Train.

We have also been listening to quite a few 70’s artists. Abba has probably been the most popular band we have listened to thus far from that era. We personally suggest the songs Angeleyes and Chiquitita on this album.

The 1975’s newest album has also been on repeat in the office. Songs like Oh Caroline and Happiness keep the good vibes going throughout our workday.

We would be lying if we didn’t admit that Jill Andrew’s “Thirties” album isn’t playing nonstop in the office. We LOVE this album. Our personal favorites from this album are Call It Even and River Swimming.

Finally, the last album we’ve been listening to nonstop is John Mayer’s “Battle Studies” album. Grace especially has loved this considering she is a major John Mayer fan. Our favorites from this album are Edge of Desire and Assassin.

We hope this gave you all a little more insight into what we’ve been listening to! Hopefully, you can add some of these to your own playlists.

The Sewing Club's Newest Single, "Cool Girl" Has Arrived

by Maddie Humble

Are you tired of trying to be a cool girl?

The Sewing Club, a five-piece band on the rise made up of Hannah McElroy (lead singer/writer), Stephen Meaux (electric guitar), Will Harris (bass guitar), Justin McKinney (electric guitar) and Zach McCoy (drums) have just released their newest single and it is bedroom rock gold. If you are craving the nostalgic feeling of listening to 90’s rock along with a modern sparkly pop spin, this is the band for you.

The Sewing Club’s latest single, “Cool Girl” transports the listener to a time where maybe they have not felt so “cool.” McElroy uses her gentle yet gritty vocals to describe a time where she felt like she was trying too hard to impress another person but getting nothing in return. The lyrics are so fantastic because this is something most people can relate to. Meaux’s guitar and Harris’ bass skills add another level of grittiness that gives a 90’s ambience and edge while McCoy’s beat on the drums is infectious. It’s the perfect angsty tune to jam out to in your car or in an underground club.

However, if you want to hear this song live, then you’re in some luck! Not only has The Sewing Club taken Nashville by storm, but they are about to take the whole U.S. by storm as a special guest on the Arlie’s Angels U.S. tour with Arlie!

Here are the tour dates to catch The Sewing Club in your neck of the woods:

Finally, go listen to "Cool Girl"on all streaming platforms!

What Song Will Save You From Vecna?

by Savannah Hall

Imagine this. It’s a casual Friday morning. You say hello to your fluffy friend, coffee cup in one hand, and suddenly you hear it. The ominous ticking sound of an old clock. The walls drift into a black void and you see Vecna ready to drag you into the upside down. There is only one way to save you from this darkness. Your favorite song! Here at Olivia Management not only do we love surviving Vecna in Stranger Things, but we love music. We asked our team what song would save them from Vecna and prepare them for Season 4, Volume 2.

Erin - “Summer” by Modest Mouse "I grew up in Florida and this song reminds me of summers at the beach, staying out late, drinking Slurpees, and that maybe I wasn't made to work all the time."

Merk - “California Dreamin’” by The Mama’s and The Papa’s “This was the song I have memories of hearing, loving, and learning. Everyone say thank you to my Dad for his exquisite taste in music and exposing me to the best of the best since the very beginning.”

Hannah - “You and Me” by Lifehouse “This song is one I've loved since I was a kid. I’ve never been able to find a song I've loved more unconditionally than this one. Every time I hear it, I can’t help but smile!”

Savannah - “Desperado” by Eagles “I grew up listening to 70s music, so I truly think anything from that era could save me, but Desperado by the Eagles would be the hard hitter! That song brings me back to life every time I play it.”

Luke - “August” by Flipturn “There is no momentous occasion that this song transports back to or any specific person it makes me think of, so in that way, it is a song I have been able to turn and listen to for quite literally any feeling or experience. I just love this song.”

Abby - “She Will Be Loved ” by Maroon 5 “This is one of the first songs I listened to and wanted to know more about. It was also one of the first songs I decided to love for myself rather than it being fed to me by my parents. It always puts me in a good mood, reminds me of love, and why I love music!”

Maddy - “The Glow” by Sylvan Esso “It's a song I can never skip, and I always find myself happily lost in the music. Plus the song has a bit of an electronic 80's vibe, so it would match the show pretty well!”

Grace - “Don’t Stop” by Fleetwood Mac “The Rumors record was the first record I bought with my own money! It brings me back to a time of being carefree and young. It reminds me of summer drives to the beach with the windows down. A song that truly makes me floaty and happy!”

There you have it! Our team will be playing their favorite tunes as we watch the new Stranger Things season. Let us know what will be saving you from Vecna!

Artist Spotlight: Alex Blue

By: Delaney Jennings

Here at Olivia Management we love how our artists are so unique and inspiring. We are so excited to have Alex Blue on our roster. We feel so blessed to have such a beautiful, talented artist to share her stories with the world.

Alex Blue is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who tells a unique story with every song. Alex began her career under the name Alex G. She posted cover videos on YouTube and at one time was the fastest growing music channel on the video streaming site. Under the name Alex G, she released an EP, a full length pop album, released over 200 songs, and also had campaigns with massive brands. However, after all of this Alex found herself being burnt out by all the demands for her time and attention. After taking some time to rediscover herself as a person and an artist, she relaunched her career, under her married name, Alex Blue. Since then she’s released multiple singles, collaborated on an EP with artists she’s admired for years, been hired as a songwriter, and played a supporting role in a Broadway scale musical podcast. Alex continues to write new music and a full length album is to come in the future.

I want to share with you three of my favorite songs from Alex Blue: “Blue” , “Noise”, and her latest release “The Songbird”.

This first song is so amazing. I adore the way the melody flows and the harmony’s that add to the chorus.

This song is so captivating. Alex’s voice and just the guitar sound so beautiful together!

I love the idea behind this song. My favorite lyric is “if you’re changing, congratulations.” It’s a reminder that changing is not a bad thing it’s a beautiful thing.

It was so hard for me to narrow down my favorite Alex Blue songs to just three. Her voice is so soothing and whimsical. As I listen I feel as though time has stopped and I am in one of those slow motion videos where it’s just me standing in a meadow with the breeze blowing the flowers. I implore you to listen to these three songs as well as everything else from Alex Blue from now and the years to come.
