AMERICANAFEST Wrap Up - From An Intern!

By Alexa Sangalis

Now that all AMERICANAFEST events are completed and everyone’s life is back to normal, it’s time to reminisce on what a fabulous week that was! We had the pleasure of being a part of so many events at AMERICANAFEST this year, and so did I (Olivia Management’s 19-year-old intern, Alexa!). I felt so lucky and awe-struck by each of the events I attended, especially the ones OM produced. Call me biased. I went to two of our events this year: A Tribute to Mary Gauthier and In The Round. If you didn’t get the chance to catch the events in person, don’t worry, click here to see our Olivia Management highlight of the week on Instagram.

Last Tuesday, we kicked off the week with the Tribute to Mary Gauthier at City Winery. The lineup of this show was truly one of a kind. Mary is such a beautiful songwriter who has influenced so many musicians and touched the hearts of Americana music lovers everywhere. Mary’s songs were covered all through the night by many of her close friends, including EmmyLou Harris, Gretchen Peters, Lori McKenna, Jamiee Harris, and so many more. I had a unique perspective of the event because I had the job of working the merch table with some fellow friends from Olivia Management. Almost everybody who came up to purchase something (speaking of which, you can also buy Mary’s amazing merch here) shared a bit of their love for Mary with us. We met a woman who flew from Australia to celebrate her love of folk music, many, many people who praised Mary’s book, “Saved by a Song,” a man who got his book signed by Mary herself, and even a City Winery employee who asked who was performing because she loved the music so much. I knew that Mary Gauthier is critically acclaimed and appreciated by many, but I only knew this after experiencing the tribute and meeting all of those lovely Americana lovers. Then, on Saturday, it was a showcase of Olivia Management clients at Jackalope Brewing Company. In case you didn’t know, not only are we a Nashville-based folk and Americana artist management company, but we also consult for emerging artists. Our lovely CEO and Founder, Erin Anderson, advises artists in career decisions and helps them organize their lives as an artist. So Saturday was 7 amazing hours of showcasing our consulting and management clients alike. Click HERE to view the full lineup, and HERE to watch some highlights of the day! Once again, I had the pleasure of working the merch table for most of the morning. This time, I got to talk with emerging artists, make the merch table all pretty as each artist rotated, and meet audience members who were actively discovering the new music they would be streaming in the future. This showcase was really special for me. Seeing so many people who have a dream and a love of music is inspiring to anybody, and especially to a 19-year-old intern.

Here’s a recap: our management clients are awesome, our consulting clients are awesome, and Olivia Management is awesome. From my perspective, AMERICANAFEST is a celebration of good music (of course), good songwriting, and good times. Even as an intern, I was able to experience all of these celebrations firsthand. If you didn’t go to any Olivia Management events, you may have missed out, but now you know to join us in the future. Until then, check out our artists on tour and stay tuned for Olivia Management updates on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and our website.

We’ll see you next year, AMERICANAFEST!

A Day In The Life of an Olivia Management Intern 🥰

By Miriam DeYoung

Hello beautiful people! My name is Miriam DeYoung, I’m a songwriting major and music business minor at Belmont University, this is my second semester as an intern here at Olivia Management, and I’m going to take you along for the ride on a typical day when I’m in office!

Tuesday night we had our company outing to TOP GOLF (in which I was absolutely demolished). Erin and the team are very intentional about getting to know interns as people which is such an amazing thing. Erin, Grace, and Sidney are ✨amazing✨

This morning, I started off my day looking over my tasks that I’ve been assigned, and then picking up some others for my day. This includes things such as

Frazier and I were interns together last semester and we’re not in the office on the same days, hence this amazing affirmation from her 🤩

  • writing this blog 😊

  • designing a page on Mary Gauthier’s website (you’ll see it soon, keep an eye out)

  • Reading through my affirmations - we do these every week at our Monday staff meetings but I join staff online so I check mine out on Tuesday when I’m in office

our beautifully organized snack shelf :)

Took a little snack break. My personal favorite is the fact that we have poptarts and motts fruit snacks, the nostalgia is real!!
We have lots of snacks in office and, if you’re lucky like I was last semester, you get to go shopping and pick out whatever you want to have during the day.

I also had a meeting with our amazing founder Erin Anderson while in office today. Every month, Erin sits down with each of us to answer any questions and help us in any way that she can which is so amazing. Today we talked about priorities in Nashville, about future internships, networking and so much more. Erin is such an amazing leader and I’m always trying to learn as much as I can about how she does it!

Thanks for tuning in, if you’re by chance looking for a Summer 24 or Fall 24 internship, you should 100% apply the link on our website, we’d love to see if you’d make a good fit for our OM team! It’s such a great space to learn more about artist management and work alongside some wonderful, kind people like Erin, Grace, and Sidney.

With that, have a FABULOUS day 🫶

Spring 2024 OM Interns!!!

Here at Olivia Management, we’re so fortunate to have an amazing team of interns each semester that help operations run as smoothly as they do. This semester we have four lovely interns from Belmont University and we’re so excited for you to meet them!

Nick is getting his MBA at Belmont University, he went to undergrad at NYU to get a music tech degree. His favorite artist is Frost Children and he met Willie Nelson and Morgan Freeman across the street from his dads house.

Miriam is a junior songwriting major at Belmont University. Her favorite artist is Lizzy McAlpine and she’s flown in a helicopter. This is Miriam’s second semester as an intern at OM.

Grace is a senior music business major at Belmont University. Her favorite artist is Frank Ocean and she’s a dual citizen of Australia. Grace is also a returning OM intern who we’re so excited to have back

Tyler is a senior music business major at Belmont University. His favorite artist is Bruce Springsteen and he owns 14 guitars.

Intern Wrap-Up: Evan Gilbreath

In April of 2023, I sat next to my broken radiator in the smallest dorm room (not even fit for a broom closet, if we’re being honest) staring at my computer and biting my nails prior to the daunting Zoom interview. Earlier that afternoon, as the crisp spring showers of London beat down on the canopy of my local Underground Station, I stood by the turnstiles waiting for the rain to pass and pondered if I would ever feel involved in the Nashville music scene again after being abroad. It was quite dramatic, I know, and the gloomy weather didn’t help my spiraling thoughts. However, I couldn’t help but feel disconnected from school, peers, and most importantly, the career field I loved.

But as I spoke with Grace Carey-Hill on the interview I soon felt at peace because I remembered how vibrant and kind some of the people in the Nashville music industry can be. It’s not everyday that you happen across a company like Olivia Management: a women-run artist management firm succeeding and representing iconic artists that add greatly to the musical fabric of Nashville.

Artist management was something I never pictured myself doing, but as I continued my college career, I knew I needed to broaden my horizons. Working with the amazing women of this company, along with the other interns, has led me to greatly consider artist management as a future career. The people at this company have taught me how to girl-boss (girl-bossing is purely a state of mind) my way through challenging tasks, embrace creativity, and most importantly, grab some good Mexican food together when the day’s plans goes awry. This field changes every day and you never know the obstacles you might run into. Olivia Management is committed to excellence, honesty, integrity, and genuine connection, and I don’t think there is any other group of people who illustrates these values as much as Erin, Grace, Mackenzie, and Maddy.

So, as my days at OM continue to dwindle down, I reflect on how grateful I am that I was able to gain these experiences. I am more confident in my future and I know that these amazing people have my back. These are the parts of college that I will never forget.

Cheers,

Evan
