OM Artist Feature: Derek Webb

By Nick Royall

It’s always exciting when our artists are releasing new music, and Derek Webb has had an eventful year so far. Earlier this month Derek put out the highly-anticipated and long-awaited sequel to “Bus Driver,” a song he wrote for his band’s 1997 self-titled album, Caedmon’s Call. “Bus Driver 2 (It All Matters After All)” follows the same titular bus driver 26 years later as they reflect on the meaning they’ve found in their work after 40 years in the driver’s seat. The song is a reminder that regardless of how big or small a role you play in the lives of those around you, the effects are greater than you could ever know, and it really does all matter after all.

Derek also had a new single drop in January called “Inside Out.” Through this single, Derek sings of how actions speak louder than words and lies never stay hidden for long. We think he killed it with the songwriting for this one, and if you watch the lyric video you’ll probably agree.

2024 has already been a big year for Derek - and he’s just getting started. You can see him in concert with Flamy Grant next month on his End of Days Tour or catch him this summer on his It All Matters After All Tour. In the meantime, keep an eye out for new music from him soon!
